I married my soulmate.

I'm so lucky to be married to this man! John is incredibly caring, loving and supportive. We have learned even more about each other since having a baby, and just as Father Jerry said I would during our wedding ceremony– I love John more today that I did yesterday. Happy Anniversary to my love of life!

Baby butt

That is all.

Oliver's first trip to the beach

We've been to the coast twice in past 2 weeks. The first trip was to Warrenton (outside of Astoria) with my family. We didn't quite make it to the beach since the weather was cooler, but we still had a really nice time. It was Oliver's first time sleeping away from home, and to our surprise he did great! Well, he still woke up a few times each night but he does that at home anyway :)

The second trip was to Lincoln City for our annual Glutton's Getaway trip with friends. Last year I was pregnant, and this year we had Oliver! It was fun to have him with us, and he did great. He loves our friends and had so much fun spending quality time with them.

During the trip, Oliver showed us how well he can sit!

Oliver signs "milk"! And he sings, too.

As I mentioned before, we took a 6-week baby sign language class. It was so fun and we learned a ton of signs! One of the first was "milk", which looks like this:

Every time John or I feed Oliver, we tell him what it is and show the sign. After a few weeks, we noticed him signing randomly, even after he had eaten. It was very encouraging to see it in action, even if he wasn't quite making the connection. But now he seems to understand that "milk" means he gets food! Just yesterday he woke up from a nap crying, just about the time I was planning to feed him. I went to get him out of his crib, and he looked up at me with big puppy dog eyes, cried and made the sign!

Here's a quick video from another time he was doing it– I only caught the very end of it, but he had been signing for about 15 seconds already. The message was clear– feed me!!

Here's another video from yesterday– I think he's singing!

Oliver at 7 Months

At 7 months, Oliver:

-has outgrown his 9 month size Carter's pajamas! Most of his clothes are 9-12 months, although the 18 month Gerber onesies fit him perfectly!
-has tried sweet potato, apple, pear, carrot, peas and avocado. He seems to really enjoy avocado, and yesterday he ate his first FULL serving of mashed apples. Before that he'd only have a few bites before spitting the rest out or pursing his lips and sealing them tight when the spoon came close to his mouth!
-still has no teeth, and shows no physical signs that they're coming!
-can sit by himself for a couple minutes, but then slumps to the side or falls backward. Most of the time he does this on purpose– I don't think he likes sitting! He wants to stand, bounce or roll.
-rolls continuously and can't be left unattended anywhere.
-loves music! He will bounce and dance when he hears a tune he likes.
-signs "milk" when he's hungry! (Video to come)
-is such a sweet, loving little boy and has the most amazing smile that melts my heart.
