"Dada!"

Caught this while filming a little video to send to John while he was at work yesterday.  So sweet!

Play date with Yia yia & Pappou

Yesterday, Oliver and I went out to visit John's parents for a few hours.  I love to see his reaction when he sees his grandparents– he is so intrigued by them!  He loves to play, and they always have fun toys waiting for him.  He showed off a little bit (of course) and demonstrated how well he scoots around on the ground.

By the end he was exhausted, and fell fast asleep on the car ride home.  We'll be back to play again soon!

These are the moments...

...that make me want to cry.  And have 10 babies with this man.  Is this not the sweetest thing ever?  I love my boys.

Oliver pulls himself up!

Ok Oliver, slow down buddy!  You are growing up way too fast.  I am very proud of the many accomplishments you've made over the past few DAYS, but seriously? Can't you be my teeny tiny baby just a bit longer?

Oliver the Incredible!

It's become very clear that Oliver is growing up– FAST.  Over the past month or 2, he's learned all sorts of tricks.  Sitting up, rolling around in circles, army-crawling to get to toys (or remotes, phones, keys, cords, anything he shouldn't be playing with).  We knew it was only a matter of time before he was pulling himself up.  Because of that, we've been meaning to lower his crib mattress for quite awhile so that way it would be ready for him when he was learning his latest trick.  But the past few weeks have been insanely busy, and he's been sleeping in the pack & play our bedroom because it's so hot (and we have an AC unit in our window).  We discovered we'd have to disassemble almost the entire crib in order to lower it, and who wants to do that when we have very little time AND when it's a thousand degrees in Oliver's room?  So anyway, last night was the first night it felt cool enough so he could go back in his bed.  Around 2:00am, I heard Oliver squawking.  Then I heard him squeeling and babbling.  He was wide awake.  I walk into his dark room expecting to see him laying down in the corner of the crib (apparently it's his favorite spot), or rolling around sucking on his blanket.  Instead, all I see is the outline of what looks like a baby standing upright.  I turned on the light to see this.

Um...  Shit.  At first I laughed, because he was wide awake and looked SO proud of himself.  He looked me straight in the eyes and squeeled with glee, almost as if he were saying, "TA DA!"  But my pride quickly turned into panic as I realized just how close my child was from catapulting himself out of his crib.  Because LOOK how easily he could've fallen out!!  (A huge thank you to Oliver's guardian angels for keeping him safe!)  I brought him back into our room and he slept the rest of the night in his pack & play.  First thing this morning after John left for work, I spent over an hour lowering the mattress and it's finally safe for our boy, the one and only, Oliver the Incredible!

Oliver's first haircut

My dad and brother have been getting their hair cut at the Hollywood Barber Shop for years.  I always thought if I had a boy, I'd take him there.  Today was Oliver's big day!  His hair is beautiful and he's got a ton of it– it's the first thing most people comment on when they see him.  He has a double cowlick so more often than not, his little hair do' is all over the place, going every which way and pretty much a mess.  (A CUTE mess, of course!)  Anyway, with Steve & Bri's wedding coming up this weekend I figured it was time to get a little trim.  Oliver sat in grandpa's lap and played with his toys (and a comb), and let Amantha cut his sweet little baby hair so beautifully.  She collected his locks in an envelope (which will go into a keepsake box from Yia yia Irene), and even gave him a certificate for "graduating from babyhood".  What a big boy!

"Dad"

Oliver must miss his Dad today, he's been saying this over and over again.  It melts my heart!

Oliver at 8 Months

At 8 months, Oliver:
-wears 9-12 month clothing and size 3 diapers.  His 9 month Carters onesies (that I LOVE) need to be packed away. Sad!

-loved eating solid foods, then was sick one night and for a few weeks after didn't want anything to do with food.  He still turns away from the spoon, but loves feeding himself! He sits in his highchair like a big boy and scoops mashed food in his fingers then sucks it off.
-STILL has no teeth, and shows no physical signs that they're coming! The past few days have been kind of weird though– maybe we'll see a tooth (or two) soon?
-sits beautifully. Once in awhile he throws himself backward so I still place a pillow behind him, just in case. He scoots around on his belly, and is starting to get up on all fours.  We think crawling will happen sometime this month! He also stands really well while propped up against something.  We know this child will be cruising in no time.
-tries to get out of his swing. Time to put it away!
-loves to clap and talk.  His first word– DAD! Dada, dada, dad.  All day long.
-is busy, sometimes exhausting, and absolutely the most joyful little baby on this planet. We are obsessed with him!

Oliver claps

Oliver Claps from Lindsay Zogas on Vimeo.

Oliver's latest trick is clapping!  He looks so proud of himself each time he does it, it's so sweet!  I took this video right before a nap so he was a little irritated that I kept egging him on, but I just had to capture it on camera.
